Privacy Policy

ExpandCaptain is a text-expansion and workflow productivity application for macOS, iPhone, and iPad. This policy explains what information the app uses and the choices available to you.
Snippet content and your library
The snippets, folders, templates, prompts, and other user content you create are stored locally on your device. When you enable iCloud sync, that content is stored in your personal iCloud account and synchronized using Apple’s services. ExpandCaptain does not need to host your snippet library on a separate content server.
Account and purchase information
Apple processes App Store purchases under Apple’s privacy and payment terms. To restore eligible access between an Apple purchase and the direct Mac app, ExpandCaptain can use a CodexCaptain account and entitlement record. That record is used to identify purchase access; it is separate from your private snippet content.
Keyboard extension
The ExpandCaptain keyboard uses the shared app container to read saved snippets you choose to make available on the keyboard. It is not designed to log your keystrokes, build an advertising profile, or automatically send messages. You choose a snippet and decide when to send the resulting text.
Optional automation and AI features
Some Mac workflows can open URLs, launch apps, run scripts, call webhooks, or transform clipboard content. These actions run only when you invoke them and may send data to a destination or provider that you configure. Review workflow payloads and third-party privacy policies before using them with sensitive information.
Core text expansion does not require AI. If you choose an AI-backed transform, the data involved in that transform may be processed by the selected local, bring-your-own-key, or hosted provider according to the mode shown in the app.
Support and diagnostics
If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message. Diagnostic information is shared only when you choose to submit or export it. Do not include private snippet content unless it is necessary for the issue and you are comfortable sharing it.
Information we do not use for advertising
- No third-party advertising SDKs
- No sale of snippet content or personal information
- No cross-app advertising profile built from what you type
- No location, contacts, or photo access required for core text expansion
Security and retention
Local and iCloud data are protected by the security controls available on your device and Apple account. Account and entitlement records are retained only as needed to provide restore, purchase, and support functions or to meet legal obligations.
Your choices
You can use ExpandCaptain without enabling optional iCloud, AI, or automation features. You can edit or delete local snippets in the app, manage iCloud data through Apple’s controls, and contact us about account or support information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. The effective date above will be revised when a new version is published.
